Iran: There Is A Path Forward

The fact that Trump hasn’t dropped a bomb on Iran doesn’t mean that he is without options. Assume he knows the mullahs’ weaknesses and is acting accordingly.

Whether you’re a Trump loyalist or someone who thinks Trump’s the devil, in Iran, we’re on the cusp of an incredible opportunity not seen since the end of WWII, and this is true despite the regime’s past survival in the face of uprisings.

Historically, Iran’s internal security forces have brutally salvaged the regime. Beginning with Obama’s first term, the IRGC suppressed the 2009 Green Movement, the 2017–2018 economic protests, the November 2019 fuel protests, the September 2022 “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests, and the current December 2025–January 2026 unrest. The latest casualties are estimated at tens of thousands killed and wounded, and tens of thousands arrested.

The million-dollar question: Can America somehow force a different outcome this time, eliminating the greatest threat to safety and security in the Middle East, and not be drawn into another debacle? I think the reasonable answer is “yes.”

Here’s where we are:

Iran is weaker now than at any time since the revolution:

- According to the Hudson Institute, “Analysts argue that ‘the Islamic Republic is dying… it will not emerge from 2026 with its authority, cohesion, or capacity preserved” and that collapse or severe decline is inevitable, making Iran weaker now than at any time since the 1979 revolution.

- “Big Think” reports describe 2025 as Iran’s “worst-ever annus horribilis,” citing destroyed nuclear facilities, assassinated commanders, currency collapse, and loss of key regional allies, leaving the regime more vulnerable than at any time in decades.

- Al Jazeera writes, “A timeline of crises highlights that the current protests and economic collapse are among the most destabilizing events Iran has faced since 1979.”

I hope the Iranian people take care of this themselves.

“I hope the Iranian people take care of this themselves.”

A few C-130 drops of guns and ammo might help.

It seems impossible for people to consider the possibility that the Iranian people have the government they want, because they are 95% Shiite and that is the government they want.

There is an article over on zero hedge about Japanese orders for military equipment that are hugely overdue in delivery. The US has weapons in inventory, and if they are used they must be replaced.

In October, in Korea, the trade talks with China took place with the number one absolute top priority the issue of Rare Earth’s, and the most significant subset of those, neodymium magnets. Without those society largely cannot function nowadays and are sophisticated weaponry cannot be built.

Those trade talks yielded nothing with respect to the magnets. Very quietly, US policy is being affected by the inability to replace weapons in inventory that get used or shipped to somebody else or anything of that sort.

It is an uncomfortable possibility to recognize that post trade talks, it becomes very clear that the inventory cannot be squandered on use that may prove far less important than something in the future. Simply that. The inventory cannot be squandered because it cannot be replaced.

I don’t want American boots on the ground, but if it takes a few well placed missiles to gently nudge the ayatollah and his republican guard generals to their safe space in hell, I’m not going to complain.

Many places do, and it’ll take 10 to 15 years for us to have the necessary facilities to produce our own, rather than buy from China who have been setting this up for decades.

General loss of confidence in America’s ability to lead the world through the threat of force, as demonstrated by our military results after WWII.

I'd like to see the sources for this statement, and a poll by CNN is not enough.

The people of Iran do NOT want this regime. They do NOT want their oil revenues to be disbursed to Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, or other proxy groups.

Religiosity has dropped drastically in Iran. In the last uprising, people burned down mosques and theology centers. Many Iranians have converted to Christianity and Zoroastrianism.

Even those who remain Shiite Moslem do not have the same vision as their rulers.

Shiite believe there is a 12th “infallible” Imam who disappeared 1,000+ years ago, and will return on armageddon.

But the Iranian rulers believe it is their duty to spread Shiite Islam everywhere, to expedite end of times.

This explains why they are funding terrorists, media, protesters, Islamic Centers, and politicians, all over the world, including the US.

Iran is ruled by a death cult, flush with cash, spreading its belief all over the world. This is a threat, not just to people of Iran, or Israel, or the middle east. It is a threat to civilization and humanity.

“Iran is overwhelmingly Shia Muslim, with 90–95% of its Muslim population identifying as Shia, according to multiple reliable sources including the CIA World Factbook, the U.S. Department of State, and the American Iranian Council.”
