I ask this out of actual curiosity as to whether it was so bad, or it’s just a presumption that they were the bad guys. From what I find, quality of life was fantastic in Austria relative to the rest of Europe. However, the sharp contrast with Croatia, etc., points to endemic problems that perhaps fueled the unrest.
