If it were "gun violence", rural farm towns would have the highest murder rates in America, since just about every farm boy owns or has access to several guns. So it shouldn't take a Sherlock Holmes to notice the real reason why America's inner cities are festering with murders, armed robberies, gang warfare etc.

And the "unspecified demographic group" is often referred to as "youths" in the media - again, as though we were dealing with farm boys of German or Scandinavian descent from rural Nebraska are shooting it out with their 30-06's, as opposed to a bunch of thugs whose ancestors hail from the Congo basin.
