After the State of New York forced closure of the Indian Point Nuclear plant, Gov. Hochul is now pushing for 1 gigawatt of nuclear power. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2026/01/12/new-york-nuclear-buildout-push-gets-bids-from-8-communities-see-the-list/88105793007/

She apparently want 8 small plants, although one AP-1000 would meet the demand.

An AP1000 would be great if Westinghouse can build it on cost. Remember the 2017 Westinghouse bankruptcy from reactor cost overruns.

This is the way...

Get tech bros to fund your fast reactor build out.

“Oklo and @Meta
have signed an agreement to advance the development of a nuclear energy campus in Pike County, Ohio, designed to scale up to 1.2 gigawatts.”

Fast reactor AI campus woop woop.

Oh and Oklo is one of the selected DOE reactors being set up at the national lab they must have got HALEU to start that baby from Europe probably France or via a shell Corp from Rosatom either way they should be the first fast spectrum up and running then Terrapower in Wyoming.

They got Meta to fund them for 4 gigawatts as well.

Tech bros bringing the thunder.

This this shows that AI is here to stay and it will grow exponentially in scope, power and use.
