A rebel Labour MP is threatening to trigger a by-election [Special Election] unless Sir Keir Starmer scraps plans to restrict jury trials.
Karl Turner, a former shadow attorney general and criminal barrister, said he was prepared to quit the Commons to force a by-election to make his “principled point”.
The Hull East MP broke the party whip for the first time since becoming an MP in 2010 to vote against the proposals and told the Prime Minister that he “ought to be ashamed of himself” over the plans.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, he said he was “not fearful of having the whip removed”, warning that he would consider triggering a by-election in a seat that could fall to Reform UK.

Tomorrow is Edmund Burke’s birthday...
He knows he can’t go after political opponents as much while a jury of the people can still counter it.
They can prosecute people for saying something against the invaders on social media or something and they are worried a jury won’t convict. Britain is becoming a dictatorship.
