Mass protest is a long way from revolution.
The people of Iran have been here before. In 2009, over perceived electoral fraud; in 2019, over fuel prices; in 2022, over the abuses of the morality police.
The authorities have honed their playbook, through the thuggery of the revolutionary guard and the Basij militias, the killing of protesters, mass detentions, public executions and the shutting down of the internet.
That last point is hugely significant. It means that people don't know if anyone else is going out.
They can't connect.
It is hard to keep momentum going across Iran's 31 provinces, especially a protest with no apparent leader (at least within Iran itself), if people are left in an information black hole.

A whole lot of starlink receivers have been smuggled into the country. Video and reports are making it out.
CC
P.S. We’re putting credence into what The UK Sky news reports now? Sky News Australia, sure. But these guys?
CC
They say it’s just a flesh wound.
I would be interested to see what is happening in the Kurd areas of Iran too.
There has to be some radio chatter too right? The west is being kept in the dark by our “News” people. Where is that intrepid Christine Amanpour lady and why does the cat suddenly have her tongue now????
Amanpour’s father was Iranian. You would think the loudmouth daughter might be interested in what is happening there????? The silence is deafening.
Toe be fair, it’s difficult the if regime won’t allow reporters in . All we have are clips smuggled out
The Iranian regime doesn’t dare to let the protests continue. If they don’t go full Tiananmen Square the regime will fall. More importantly, the regime’s staff, the hundreds of mini-me ayatollahs, will definitely lose their power, wealth and most of them their lives or freedom. So, no amount of threat will make them stop killing the protesters.
Leaders in Israel and America are faced with the potential political disaster of their military forces being held as hostages if their attempt to help the protesters goes badly. That threat will, most likely, keep bombers on the ground in our home territory. That’s just politics. The protesters can expect lip service, but little kinetic aid.
Now a little bit of clandestine aid via coercion of neighbors who have their own interests...well, that’s on the table.
I thought award winning “War” correspondents were brave and intrepid? But your point is taken too.
That was my first question when looking at this thread. Is it the real Sky News or the fake Sky News. Now I know. It's the fake.
sky is out of it. X is covered with videos transmitted via Starlink.
Starlink is one thing, but we should be air dropping guns and ammo.
The CIA and the Mossad tend to be quite circumspect about their activities. Let’s see how it plays out.
CC
You trust the CIA? REALLY???
Guns to the people. The Shah has a working organization, but it might be better to see the country fracture into States.
Federalism works.
I can’t see the mullahs relenting until they assume room temperature.
Can’t Musk just set up a couple of Starlinks?
