Another thing that has always boggled my mind. How can anyone that served in the military come out of the service as a liberal?

I do not believe that military service make people into conservatives...People do not easily change their political ideology just because of the military service...In my opinion...

There are many liberal politicians who served in the military...

Jimmy Carter, George McGovern, Ron Dellums, Charles Rangel...

IMHO someone who serves in the military has a chance of having greater respect for whatever party the Commander in Chief is at that time. For example, my grandfather, who served in WW2, voted Democrat even though he thought the Dims’ segregation was wrong and hoped the Republicans won the argument.

I never had much respect for McGovern. Then I read about his time in WWII.

While I thought he was a knucklehead politically, he needed a wheel barrow to carry his gonads around during the war.
