I got into a mild argument with my dad yesterday about how we’re limiting the kids’ intelligence by homeschooling them instead of sending them to public schools.
My son is getting straight As in a top Engineering school, and my eldest daughter is reading Plutarch for fun and having animated discussions with me about she hates Julius Caesar now and is a fan of Cato and Cicero. I said name for me a public school kid who is doing that.
The whole danged culture has been dumbed down. And we have to fight it every way we can.
And this reminds me I need to really get my music writing back in gear this year.
Oh definitely. I wouldn’t put a dog into a public school.
Your eldest daughter sounds like me. My homeschooling was completed more than 10 years ago and I’m still studying history. As for music today, it’s a wasteland, so I compose my own.
Most people my age can’t spell, write cursive, read a map, or make change; and if they attended public school they never studied history at all.
Public school is adult day care, and a welfare program. Parents who entrust their children to public school, care more about their income than they do about their children. It’s child neglect. They wouldn’t put their cars in someone else’s hands for six hours a day. They wouldn’t put their pets in someone else’s hands all day. But a child’s mind and spirit?
I never regret having homeschooled my sons.
