NEW ORLEANS -- Lucas Carneiro kicked a 47-yard field goal in the closing seconds, and the Ole Miss Rebels defeated the Georgia Bulldogs, 39-34, in the Sugar Bowl, securing a berth in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Ole Miss advances to play the 12-2 Miami Hurricanes in a CFP semifinal at the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 8. Miami, the No. 10 seed in the playoff, secured its final four berth with a win over No. 2 seed Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Eve, and has won two games in the CFP this season.

I think the Quarterfinals should be at the home of the higher seeded team.

The Semis and Championship Game should be the only neutral-site games.

LOL....Bye teams get pounded again...They are now 1 and 7 in the new CFP format...Indiana, however, looks real good.

The coaches had already met and shaken hands. Why couldn’t they just agree that the game was over? I’ve seen that done before.

The way Kiffin left Ole Miss was bush league. Happy for the team as they played well and didn’t let Kiffin’s departure knock them off track.

Trinidad Chambliss played with inspiration. I’ve never seen anything like that. It was a beautiful thing. He gave all the glory to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Love it! IU QB Fernando Mendoza did also.

I saw them both and they were very sincere. It was a great day of football, that I'm guessing most of America enjoyed. Who doesn't like to see Bama get crushed, except Bama fans. Georgia being upset was probably pretty satisfying to a lot of people too. Lane Kiffin not being part of the Ole Miss win, it just seems like it was a day that the lesser known good guys came out on top (except TT), which doesn't happen nearly enough.

With Lane they lost to UGA. Without Lane they beat UGA.

Interesting point. That was their only loss too, after dominating the first half, so they may actually be better than a lot of people realize.

Indiana has destroyed everyone. They are the true team this year. Ole Miss Oregon and Miami are ok. They belong unlike most of the other teams like Alabama. Alabama played poorly in four of the last five games. they should never have gotten in the playoffs. Oklahoma and Tech finally payed real teams and got destroyed.

He stayed there for six years. Does he have to stay the rest of his life? The college football calendar dictates when coaches have to leave their old school not what the coach want.

Personally, I don't think he should have gone to LSU. They fired there coach who won their first national championship in 16 years, less than two years later, and now they are in a lawsuit because they won't fulfill a contract they signed.

I was monitoring the game on ESPN website play by play...they had Ole Miss going 3 and out after Georgia kicked the tying field goal, but electing to go for it on 4th down at THEIR OWN 30 yard line with a short time left in the game...HUH??? It was all messed up at the end, I didn’t know what happened. ESPN play by play does that a lot.

I know, right?! It was nuts…and it seemed so cruel to the Georgia players. They’d already lost and they knew it, yet the refs kept dragging it out. I was like, “Let those poor kids go to the locker room already!!” But no, they had to take the field again for (theoretically) one second of play. They made the most of that “one second,” though.

I was rooting for Ole Miss, but even *I* felt sorry for Georgia after that circus, lol.

You’ll have to pull up the last couple of minutes of the game and watch for yourself. It was nutty; no way the poor suckers trying to update the play-by-play could keep up with it, lol.

I noticed that the referees were easy on the numerous face mask infractions by Georgia. Maybe they wanted Georgia to win.

Interesting article about Kiffin wanting to sit at the ESPN desk for the game yesterday.

It’s all about him.
