I'm no expert on Florida (I've lived in South Carolina for about 4 years - Connecticut for many decades before that). I could be wrong, but it *seems* to me that in Florida it's pretty much Publix and not much else. I've never seen any real competition by other supermarkets other than Walmart. I don't know if those small Aldi stores are considered "supermarkets".
Fortunately here in Lowcountry South Carolina, we have competition from several other supermarkets like Food Lion, a massive Kroger supermarket and Harris-Teeter. And Walmart. Also Aldi and Fresh Market, if they fit the "supermarket" category.

Received my last Kroger delivery this week. Heartbroken they have pulled out of Florida effective today. Kroger had regional delivery distribution centers in FL, rather than grocery stores. Their delivery vans were top notch with freezers/refrigerators. Will miss them.
We have a Winn Dixie in town which nobody knows how they stay open. Went in there Christmas Eve, and there were more employees working than there were shoppers. We also have Aldi and Publix, Walmart.
