Yeah, Hollywood discriminates
Reiner’s last few projects were flops so he got discriminated against. Hollywood discriminates against money losers big time
The jerk was worth 270 million. At 78 maybe he could afford to finance his own projects and make bank on his next new blockbuster

He are the world-wide box office receipts for Reiner's last films:
The Magic of Belle Isle (2012): $124,000
And So It Goes (2014): $25.4 million
Being Charlie (2015): $33,000
LBJ (2016): $2.5 million
Shock and Awe (2017): $182,000
Hollywood normally abandons you after one flop. Hollywood gave Meathead five flops.

Reiner’s last few projects were flops so he got discriminated against. It wasn't just the last few. Reiner produced and directed 'North' in 1994 which not only bombed, grossing $12m against a budget of $40m, it made several lists of the worst movies ever made.

Maybe up through the 1980s...financing a movie with your own capital was possible, but in the last 25 years...so many ‘stinkers’ have been produced with marginal return. There’s a fair amount of fear....making a $50-M movie which only appears to 10-percent of the public.
2023 examples: Dial of Destiny (Indy Jones), The Flash, Aquaman, Wish, Haunted Mansion, Fury of the Gods, Renfeld. All of these lost $100-M-plus.
Just a lot of crappy movies being made.
