I was just thinking yesterday that some very famous rock star was going to pass away before the end of the year and found out about this this morning .

God speed.
I wasn’t a huge fan of The Cure. But when they made a hit they did it well. Lots of talent.

I was a huge fan up until drummer Boris Williams left the band in 1994 . I saw The Cure at a club in NYC in April 1980 on their first US tour ! Saw them once more in 1984 ( a year before I moved to Japan ) just after Boris had joined the group .

Perry was a real paradox: the quiet "rock star." Most have heard him but have no idea it was him. He played guitar, keyboards and six string bass. Also an avid fly fisher. RIP Perry, you made your mark.

Was Perry with the group for the recording of
“Close To Me”?
That’s one of the earlier tunes; 1980’s Nightclub worthy, bordering on Jazzy. Makes for a great Earworm. A simple organ chord provide the structure. I especially like the sax, flute and trumpets. Not Goth like at all.
The coda could go on and on, I wouldn’t have minded.

The Cure made some good music… RIP. Sixty-five is young.
