Article doesn’t say but I guess the abandon ATM was NOT successfully broken into for it’s money. This use to happen a lot when ATMs first came out. Thieves hauled the machines off to an area where they could break out heavy duty tools to access the money, but the machines were built to handle anything your low level thief could pull off.
I always wondered if a typical cutting torch could get into one. Even then you’d probably have to know what you were doing, and the work you put in would be tantamount to an eight hour shift.
The ATM should have the dye packs loaded into it for such an incident.
