As a banking lawyer, I was an acknowledged source for a book on BCCI. The bank was corrupt from the start and operated on the premise that by setting up a network of shady banks and financial institutions around the world, regulators could be easily deceived because none of them could examine the operation as a whole.

Once BCCI got going, its crooked bankers often vouched for crooked customers, made introductions, and brokered and financed corrupt deals and payments. I think that Epstein often did the same.
