So who was Archie? Probably a guy who fought in WW2 or Korea, came home, worked his tail off to marry his sweetheart, own a house, and raise a little girl.

I remember a few times on the show where Archie said, "You know, I fought in doubleya-doubleya two--the Big One!"

I remember an episode of “All in the Family” where Archie said to Mike, “Where were you in World War II?”

Mike: “I wasn’t even born yet!”

Archie: “Aw, that’s no excuse!”
