No, he can’t buy the US debt. His net worth is meaningless, it is all tied up in stocks and numbers on a spreadsheet, not actual dollars. Just like if you own a house, doesn’t make you rich, because any value is tied up in the equity. He can secure loans against the collateral, which he has done in order to buy Twitter. But he doesn’t have enough collateral to buy the US debt at a 38 trillion level. Try putting 10 percent down on that, and he is way short of having collateral to pay 4 trillion dollars. People look at him as if he has half a trillion in his pocket. Nope, just smoke and mirrors unless he cashes out his stocks, but loses more than half to taxes.
