I remember when we only had one billionaire in the world, J. Paul Getty.
From the net: “As of 2025, there are approximately 3,028 billionaires in the world, with a total net worth of $16.1 trillion. The term “trillionaire” refers to individuals with a net worth exceeding $1 trillion, but there is no specific count of trillionaires mentioned in the available data.
Forbes”
I want to live in the country with the most billionaires, so far so good:
United States - 813 billionaires
China - 473 billionaires
These two countries account for the majority of the world’s billionaires.

Well, that’s a dumb article. There’s “no specific count of trillionaires” because there are no trillionaires!
Elon Musk is currently the richest person in the world, with a net worth of around three quarters of a trillion dollars.
Was that something Forbes said, or was that your observation from the Forbes data? The excerpt posted here seems to think there are none and Musk might become the first - "83% chance he’s the first trillionaire."
Grok:
Rockefeller remained the world's sole billionaire for some time after 1916, as no other individual is recorded to have reached that threshold immediately afterward. Other industrialists like Henry Ford or Andrew Carnegie were extremely wealthy but did not cross the $1 billion mark in nominal dollars during that era.
I would bet that there are trillionaires out there, but their funds can’t be tracked by Forbes (or anyone else with accuracy) because 1) They are dictators or sovereigns of nations 2) Illegal criminal enterprises 3) Old old money with tremendous untaxable assets around the world - think gold, art, and holdings in untracked accounts 4) The scumbags that stole trillions of dollars from the United States - under cover of covid funds, “bailouts” and various other schemes
