This is not your normal AI drek, but showing what is achievable today and how we won't be able to trust any video in the near future.
This is an amazing, very clever and top-notch piece of work. I'm reminded of the movie Zelig in 1983 (which was a breakthrough when it was made) and look how far we've come in 40 years.
Funniest comment at the X site by Doug Millett: "I can tell this is fake because all those movies didn’t film at the same time in the same place." LOL.
This is going to be real hard on kids under 20 or so, especially those who are bullied and have low self-esteem. I can see an uptick in teen suicide from explicit deep-fake videos.
In August 2025, a male student at Sixth Ward Middle School in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana was charged with 10 counts of disseminating explicit AI-generated images of female classmates. He allegedly created and shared deepfake nude photos of multiple girls, including one 13-year-old victim who confronted him on a school bus, leading to her initial expulsion (later reduced to probation after appeal).
The images were shared among students at school and on the bus. The boy's case is under Louisiana's deepfake laws (banning creation and dissemination of such content involving minors). The case is still in the charging phase, with the potential for more counts. The family of the 13-year-old girl is planning a lawsuit against the school district and raising awareness about AI deepfakes. This was widely reported in mid-November.
How can parents protect their children from this?
What do you think? Where is this going? What will the future be like?
The Lord of the Rings photo is clearly AI, those guys aren’t really that short.
We will descend into shadow. One can always choose not to watch. Starve the beast.
Soon Hollywood can use AI to fix all the old movies so they are properly diverse and have the right values. /s
That’s what they said when photoshop first came out. We’ve survived that.
I’d like to have photos like those of Dr. Clown!
But generally speaking, I am not fond of AI. I used to get more enjoyment out of browsing YouTube videos before all these fakes starting coming out.
Sometimes it’s hard to know what is fake, which can lead to all kinds of problems in the future. Who knows what kind of blackmail or wrongful arrests can be prompted by fake videos. Could a politician be deceased, but AI makes it seem like he is alive and giving speeches? And what you said about girls in a Middle School being made to appear nude would be quite embarrassing at that tender age. Grown women wouldn’t appreciate it either. I think there is no end to the problems AI could cause.
and I’ll be able to fix new movies.
There will be new movie stars.
Established movie stars like Tom Cruise will license AI versions of their younger selves and the estates of dead stars will do the same.
We'll get brand new action films with 25-y/o Tom Cruise alongside 30-y/o Steve McQueen.
It’s the end of the world as we know it, and we’ll be fine.
Imagine all our social betters in Hollywood having no work and no massive voice to lecture us about our political sins from their mansions.
bump
Guys consider this. AI is NEVER going to get worse than this. I bet Hollyweird is REALLY nervous about this.
“Turn it off because there’s better things to do.”
You ever watch a TV show? A movie? A newscast? Talking heads? Political interviews?
You simply will not be able to turn it off. It will be everywhere and indistinguishable from reality.
Unless you go live a subsistence life in a cabin in the woods, shoot your own meat, grow your own vegetables, make your own charcoal, mine your own saltpeter. Then they will Ruby Ridge you.
“Imagine all our social betters in Hollywood having no work and no massive voice to lecture us about our political sins from their mansions.”
Instead of them it might be the AI simulations doing that. That won’t go away.
just waiting for Democrats to use it... to blame AI to spur disbelief, or use it to frame republicans...
That statement is too broad. There are a lot of elements of AI that are extremely helpful to people (e.g., the book Better Grades Using AI).
Amazing application of AI
Insert yourself into scenes to create Christmas cards you can send to family and friends.
Just remember to fix all nip slips
