I am once again amazed at the youtube algorithm - I got this in my feed over the weekend. Sometimes it is a video about speaking Texas German or something and my Father, who lives far away, will tell me he got the same video in his feed.
I’ll watch something in here, and it or something related shows up in the YouTube feed on the Roku. Of course, my viewing patterns are basically identical in both places, but it sometimes creeps me out.
Youtube algorithm:
I search equal amounts of rightwing topics, right wing sources and left wing topics, left wing sources. I search equally and read all American sides (sometimes but not so much every foreign side).
The Youtube algorithm always gives me only the left wing sources and leftwing topics unless I specifically name a right wing source or topic.
When I specify a right wing source/topic it appears on the first try about half the time. But often I have to reword or make more specific my request to see right wing material.
All other stories that appear in the right panel are left wing.
Google AI quotes SPLC Southern Poverty Law Center and other left wing opinion sources as if they are fact.
Such is our society.
