My favorite English word (or prefix) to discuss like that is “phonic”. Of all English words, you’d think that that one would be the one that’s spelled like it sounds — with a F! LOL
Pry, not probaly. Who raised you?!? 😁
Jew-la-ree instead of jewelry bugs me, no reason.
Chimbley instead of chimney — we were warned about that one in fifth grade by our teacher (she started out in one-room schools btw) — but I’ve only heard that used once, also during the school years, by a classmate. In my late 20th century career, I heard a mispronounciation of “chimbley”, which was “chimley”. And I’m pretty sure that old woman wasn’t an aficianado of kung fu movies.
“Very unique”, “quite unique”, but that’s not about pronounciation or spelling.
😆
Sounds like a bunch of baklava to me.
Great, now I’m hungry.
It comes originally from the Greek, like ‘phobia’, ‘phenomenon’, etc.
I would LOVE it if my Roku “previously viewed” was in a menu. Obviously they know it’s me, even though they don’t know who “me” is.
Well, they do taste like chicken... Fido know if I’d eat it if I knew what it was.
Ya gotta have the Stuffed Grape Leaves first! 😁
When did they stop listing channels you’ve subscribed to in alphabetical order? We got a new device last year, and suddenly it was all listed in a different way.
The English word "dog" originated from the Old English word "docga," which referred to a specific breed of dog. Its exact origins are unclear, but it eventually replaced the Old English word "hund" as the general term for dogs by the 16th century.
Old English for a type of mastiff I guess.
If it takes a long time, they should paws for breaks.
A couple of SGL (lamb preferred) and a couple of falafel, zapped about 20 seconds, served on a bed of hummus, tends to be a breakfast favorite. But by the time I eat that for five or six days, I gain about five pounds.
My brother’s Father in Law said “Chimbley.” Never heard anyone before or after say it that way. The others in our family thought it was hilarious... well, only when he wasn’t around.
How about “President Biden”, lol
Youtube algorithm:
I search equal amounts of rightwing topics, right wing sources and left wing topics, left wing sources. I search equally and read all American sides (sometimes but not so much every foreign side).
The Youtube algorithm always gives me only the left wing sources and leftwing topics unless I specifically name a right wing source or topic.
When I specify a right wing source/topic it appears on the first try about half the time. But often I have to reword or make more specific my request to see right wing material.
All other stories that appear in the right panel are left wing.
Google AI quotes SPLC Southern Poverty Law Center and other left wing opinion sources as if they are fact.
Such is our society.
Still no explanation for its emergence in Ye Olde English, but sounds reasonable to me. 🐩
There’s no logical explanation for that one, other than ballot box stuffing and family grifting.
I don’t subscribe to any, and have never signed on, I just lurk on the Roku app.
