Lawmaker Questions Wyoming Adjutant General Over Presence Of UFOs

Halfway through a Wyoming legislative committee’s four-week budget-planning marathon Friday, a top lawmaker asked the state’s adjutant general about the prevalence of unidentified flying objects overhead, which the government now calls unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP).

Wyoming Adjutant General Greg Porter’s answer was that he couldn’t field that question in public.

“I’m asking if you’ve had any incidents of UAPs over your airspace?” asked Senate Appropriations Chair Tim Salazar, R-Riverton, during Friday's meeting of the committee at the state Capitol in Cheyenne.

“For our air space, no. I’m aware of some other ones — near some other federal facilities — that I don’t think in open testimony here I could probably say much about that,” answered Porter.

Following a Cowboy State Daily request for clarification on either the UAP presence or the reasons Porter declined to discuss them publicly, the adjutant general gave “no additional clarification,” the Guard’s spokesman said in a text message.

Salazar in a follow-up phone interview said he asked the question because news of UAPs frequenting U.S. military installations “has become more of a concern” following national media reports.

Given the large number of nuclear missile silos in Wyoming, I asked Grok to search the news for past stories involving UFOs or drones at such bases. Here's the result.

Per Grok:

Wyoming's F.E. Warren Air Force Base (AFB) in Cheyenne oversees about 150 Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) silos spread across southeastern Wyoming, western Nebraska, and northern Colorado. These sites have drawn persistent UFO/UAP reports since the 1960s, often described as anomalous lights, discs, or large craft hovering near or over silos, sometimes coinciding with equipment malfunctions. Below is a chronological summary of key documented incidents from news archives, declassified documents, and witness accounts, focusing on those tied directly to the Warren missile field.

1965: Mass Sightings at Missile Sites

A declassified U.S. Air Force memo from Col. Donald W. Johnson detailed 148 unidentified objects reported by 143 personnel across F.E. Warren's missile sites over several days in late July and early August. Witnesses, including security teams and launch officers like John F. Earnshaw, described the objects as oblong or disc-shaped, glowing red or orange, and maneuvering erratically. Earnshaw noted Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) debriefings, suggesting an official cover-up effort. This wave occurred amid early ICBM deployments and predated similar flaps at other bases like Malmstrom AFB in Montana.

1975: "Flap" of Chases Near SilosSecurity personnel at F.E.

Warren reported repeated pursuits of anomalous lights near missile silos and weapons storage areas throughout the year. Teams chased glowing objects in vehicles but failed to intercept them, with sightings concentrated around launch facilities in rural Wyoming and Nebraska. These events were part of a broader "UFO flap" documented by researcher Robert Hastings, who interviewed former base personnel; no official explanations were issued, though some were later dismissed as experimental aircraft.

October 23, 2010: Cigar-Shaped Craft During Missile Comms Failure

Fifty Minuteman III missiles under the 319th Missile Squadron (Alpha through Echo facilities) lost communication with the base for about an hour, rendering them unresponsive to launch commands—a one-ninth slice of the U.S. ICBM arsenal. President Obama was briefed on the incident. Three anonymous missile maintenance technicians later told Hastings they saw a massive cigar-shaped object (estimated 100-200 feet long) slowly flying low over the missile field during the outage, with no sound or lights. Additional civilian and law enforcement witnesses reported similar craft in the area from September 2010 to April 2011, including spherical and triangular objects hovering directly over silos in Banner and Kimball Counties, Nebraska.

2019-2020: "Drone" Swarms and Mothership Over Midwest Silos

Amid a regional wave of mysterious "drone" sightings across Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas, F.E. Warren staff reported a 6-foot-diameter "mothership" orb flanked by 10 smaller objects (some fixed-wing, others spherical) maneuvering over the base and nearby silos. Locals described formations buzzing critical infrastructure, including the Jim Bridger power plant near missile fields. The Pentagon attributed most to misidentifications, but witnesses noted synchronized, silent flight defying commercial drone capabilities.

Ongoing and Recent Trends (2024-2025)

Cheyenne leads Wyoming with 50 UFO reports since 1995 per the National UFO Reporting Center, many clustered over F.E. Warren and its silos—far exceeding rural areas like Devils Tower. A 2024-2025 spike in "drone-like" sightings in Niobrara County (near silo fields) prompted base officials to cite "operational security" without details, echoing 2010 concerns. Social media buzz, including veteran accounts of orbs at Warren in the early 2000s and a 2025 Google Trends surge for "Tic Tac UFO" searches in Cheyenne, suggests continued activity tied to the base's nuclear role.

These cases align with a decades-long pattern of UAP interest in U.S. nuclear sites, as chronicled by Hastings in over 200 veteran interviews—often involving temporary disruptions to missile systems without evidence of human tech. Official responses range from denials to classifications, fueling speculation about surveillance or interference motives. No peer-reviewed explanations exist, and recent congressional pushes for UAP transparency (e.g., 2025 NDAA provisions) may yield more declassifications.

I wish my father-in-law was still around to talk with. He was CO of the 490th ballistic missile squadron in Montana (Malmstrom) in the early to mid 60's, and would have certainly been aware of these events. He might not have answered my questions though.

My other question would be, was the launch code in the silos really "00000"?

Very interesting. Malmstrom has had more than its share of such events.

The United States, its Air and Space Forces, Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Marines have their secrets and rightly so. Get over it.

Good point—we have no “need to know” about aliens from Uranus looking for future food sources like humans.

Who cares if “To Serve Man” is really a cookbook? (ref: Twilight Zone).

We just better hope the military takes care of business.

Lol.

My Dad was with military intelligence during Korea, and afterwards. He referred to himself as an “anti commie” warrior for most of his service.

Up until he died, he wouldn’t talk about the stuff he did. I figured out some of it—he was doing war crimes investigations in Japan before Korea happened. Even when I asked him about it, all he did was ask where I got my information from. Then said he couldn’t talk about that stuff.

You probably would not have gotten much more from your Dad. Those guys took the whole “secret” stuff very seriously.

Yup. We've people on FR whose comments give the impression that they are on the Deep State or Lockheed payroll.

Like this troll.

The military has secrets? Who knew?;-)

Once the aliens visited the planet and saw what humans are like they decided they didn’t even want to use them for food. They revisit once in a while waiting for us to finish destroying ourselves so they can populate the planet themselves.
Burp 🤢

That must be why they never wanted their presence known. 🤡

I grew up at a time when high resolution cameras were rare. Yet, reports of “UFOs” often included grainy pictures of something. Now, with virtually everyone in the world carrying a high-resolution camera in their pockets, we rarely, if ever, see real photos. We do see videos of radar screens and computer monitors that purport to be “videos”, but the images on the screens are computer generated. It is computers that generate the Clouds, waves. and tic-tacs, etc. These are not real images, just the imagination of some computer geek writing the software that generates the screen images.

I would like to see real photographs, or optical videos before I’ll believe that the images are of a solid object.

I don’t think most of the people on FR believe that there are UFO/UAP craft and that it’s all some big fraud exercise that they will make jokes about. Mostly these are some of the smartest people on the internet IMO but for whatever their reasons are they refuse to accept that there is non-human intelligence interacting with our planet. Today’s sensor technology proves these craft exist, no 4K pictures are required for proof. Our Gov knows they are there and I think enough have come forward now that there is no doubt. Watch The Age of Disclosure now even in our Gov at the highest levels key leaders are openly talking about this. It’s not a question anymore and it’s not a joke.

The 2019-20 drone swarms were well documented and repetitive but never explained . Town hall meetings were even held as it is farm and ranch country and people were concerned. This, more than most, deserves an explanation.

I never trust authority figures.

When they told me there was nothing to see here I was convinced it was aliens aliens aliens.

Now that they are telling me it is aliens I am convinced it is all a fraud.

Lol.
