Gavin Newsom bragged about a $97.5 billion dollar surplus. By the 2024-25 budget, that surplus turned into an estimated $73 billion deficit. By the end of 2025, it’s likely far worse

Thing is: Will Republicans use this obvious ammunition (and a LOT more) against Newsom in the 2028 run for POTUS?

Vance will, DeSantis already has, the rest of the party...not so sure.

Newsom goes after billionaire’s money. Illinois/Pritzker goes after middle class money. In 2014 I did not live or work a day in IL. My consulting firm employer and consultant client did not work a day in IL in 2014. But, unknown to me at the time, IL forced my employer to take money out of my paycheck 7 years later because I did not pay taxes in 2014.

IL notified my employer on the last day on which I could legally file an appeal. I did not find out until it was too late to file an appeal.

If you vacationed in California 40 years ago, you may owe the new Resort Fee, plus the late fee and the convenience fee.

Billionaires must not be like I think they would be, or like they are in the movies.
In the part of Texas, I came from, engaging 200 billionaires is a good way to get your lamp blowed out.

I thought every billionaire had a couple of navy seals and retired mafia hitman on the payroll… Maybe some SAS or Legionaries. It must not be like it isn’t the movies.

Everybody hates the Bushes. Honestly, nobody ever deeply liked them. They were kinda the best you could get at the moment.

I think it’s more than just that. Bill Clinton was the “cool” candidate, smooth and quick with a smile. He got a lot of votes for that alone.

Well, in 2028 it's gonna be the HillBilly vs. The greaser con man - It will be interesting where the vanity vote goes.

Retroactive is another name for ex post facto. Since this is targeting the very wealthy, California is going to be up against an impressive legal team.

California billionaires, leave, and take your tax dollars with you.

Don’t get a 1031 exchange, you’ll have to file California 540s for five more years, AND once again at any time you sell the new property or convert it to another use, so they can - in their words - “CLAW BACK” your tax savings!

“... 220 billionaires residing in California in 2025. “

If they unified and pooled their resources in opposition to California, Who’d win?

The taxpayers, for once...

I live in Nevada. I worked for a California company, with a W2. The company accountants mistakenly withheld CA tax from my paycheck.

California Tax Franchise Board tried to prosecute me when I didn't file California tax forms. My response was this: "If I pay California tax, where do I vote?"

Two withholding refund checks arrived within one week.

As long as Deep State can steal elections at will, it can install anyone it likes.

And Gavin wants to run for Present with a record like that?

Records don't matter. The best looking, most charismatic candidate matters. Has been that way since women started voting. This is why Newscum has a very strong chance at winning.

I vacated in California for about a week, maybe 40 years ago. Now I’m ascared Gavin will eventually try to tax me.

Back in the mid 80s I went TDY to California for 20 weeks of training. At that time the State was trying to tax the retirements of everybody who ever worked there, including the military personnel. They were even looking at taxing folks like me who were there for short periods of time. I was TDY to California for a total of 30 weeks over three TDYs and the courts finally told them they couldn't tax us.

IMHO there was also the matter of the Republicans having had the WH 3 terms in a row. It’s hard for one party to maintain the WH so long (without fraud and without Santa Claus giveaways from govt).
