In Russia, you can say whatever you want. You can go out and preach the gospel. In the UK, that'll get you arrested.
In Russia, you'll get arrested for speaking out against Putin regarding the war in Ukraine. But everyone in Russia knows that is off-limits. So the restrictions are clear.
In the UK, you're not really sure on what is considered to be "hate speech". You don't have to worry about that in Russia (although they are not going to tolerate you if you are known to be openly gay).
UK and the rest of Europe are crashing into destruction, that destruction has nothing to do with Ukraine, but certainly Russia has a hand in it.
Was happening before the war and certainly accelerating now, but the idea that Russia is a haven of free speech and God given rights is fantasy.
Europe has a ways to go to catch up to Russia when it comes to censorship and human rights abuses, but they are charging full speed ahead.

‘Systematic harassment’ of Russian religious minorities
“Since President Vladimir Putin launched his full-scale military invasion of Ukraine on February 23, 2022, Russian authorities have continued their systematic harassment and prosecution of religious minority communities within the Russian Federation, while simultaneously undertaking the largest crackdown on independent civil society in decades,” the update on religious freedom within Russian stated.
Russian officials have accused religious minorities of extremism, terrorism and blasphemy—and labeled them as “undesirable organization”—to crack down on religious leaders who have not voiced support for Russian aggression toward Ukraine, the update noted.
