Can’t remember which show or movie it was but the American guy wanted to impress a Chinese girl and said some memorized words.
She laughed and told him: “You just thanked me for letting you eat my dog at the dinner table.”

Or the I Love Lucy episode where instead of “Muchas Gracias”, she said “Macho Grasa”....’You just called him a ‘Big Fat Pig’.

There was a similar scene in a Frasier episode. He was trying to impress a Chinese woman and said something like “do you have a chicken neck” (I can’t recall exactly) and his “perfect” guest walked up and said “who has a chicken neck”.

Frasier was perturbed this guy was good at everything. Then the guy started to sing and was awful.

It happens in real life sometimes.

There was a situation where I was the only one that spoke the local language and as such was supposed to order everyone lunch. I accidentally ordered cheese and snail sandwiches.

Another time I told a beautiful woman that the look/appearance of her face gave me a heart attack.
