Well, he certainly practiced what he preached. He could only do it once, however.

He died doing what he loved. May God have mercy on his soul.

RE:...critics argue, amount to “a form of abandonment of the elderly, whose deaths amount to deaths of despair,”...

Prolific Catholic author Fr. Robert Spitzer has referenced several Scandinavian cases of families being encouraged to save health care deductible money and avoid the inevitable worse decline by allowing the hospital doctors to make the decision about how much end of life medical efforts to make and the doctors can withdraw psychological drugs, making the patient go into hopelessness and despair.

Worse is the type he referenced about yells and screams in the corridors “No, no. Stop. I don’t want to die. Let me live.”

Father Spitzer became blind as an adult and somehow keeps writing long and footnoted nonfiction volumes. Was President of Gonzaga University. Several of his books are scientific arguments in favor of the existence of God.

At least he won’t encourage anyone to off themselves any more. I wonder when the group will realize that many of the people who chose suicide may be doing so because they are experiencing treatable anxiety and/or depression or just ran out money?
