Documents revealing how infamous Nazi doctor Josef Mengele, known as the “Angel of Death,” led an open post-war life in Argentina were found among a massive trove of evidence released and declassified earlier this year by President Javier Milei.
Mengele was notorious for his role as a commander in Auschwitz, where he conducted brutal medical experiments on prisoners, especially twins, under the guise of scientific research. Eyewitnesses — including some contained in the declassified Argentine files — describe his extremely cold-blooded and macabre, sadistic nature, including torturing and testing on twins in front of one another after sending their parents to the gas chambers.
An entire binder is dedicated exclusively to following the footsteps of infamous Auschwitz doctor and SS commander Mengele.
The declassified archives show Argentina clearly understood by the mid- to late 1950s who Mengele was and that he was actually present in the country. Authorities knew he had entered the country in 1949 using an Italian passport issued under the name Helmut Gregor, which he used as the basis for obtaining an official immigrant ID card in 1950.
Argentina’s archival material sheds light on the networks that sheltered Mengele. Though heavily fragmented and multilingual — featuring Spanish, German, Portuguese and English documents — the archive provides a snapshot of how authorities tracked, archived, mishandled and often took no action regarding the information they had about one of the world’s most wanted war criminals.

Hillary had such hopes of being like Eva Perón.
Two U-boats definitely made it to Argentina. Probably lots of other things we don’t know.
I think it’s one of those things we will probably never fully know what really happened in that bunker.
Could history be totally different than what we’ve been told, I think it’s entirely possible.
Most likely, Hitler died in the bunker and his and Ava Braun’s bodies were burned, is it possible he made it out of Berlin and lived out his life in Argentina, unlikely but possible.
Either killed trying to escape Berlin or he went to work for the Soviets.
And the Soviets.
The ultimate mercenary.
Just because Hitlery’s fat doesn’t mean she can sing. 🎶
Mengele looks like Fauci.
Or much of anything else
To be fair, she’s great at grifting, scheming, and lying.
True
hundreds
They now know what happened to him. He did not get far, and killed himself when he was about to be captured.
He wasn’t identified till many years later.
If you are talking about Marin Borman, yes his body was found in Berlin but it was years after the war, the area that the body was found in was search a number of times early and the body was not found.
Credible reports exist that Borman actually made it to Argentina and his body was transported back to Berlin after he died.
Borman never making it out of Berlin is likely what happened, I say a 95% percent chance, the 5% chance that he actually made it to Argentina still exists.
The majority of the French Foreign Legion in Vietnam were Germans.
Yep 2 U-boats made it to Argentina months after the surrender.
They found glass in his teeth indicating cyanide. There were people who claimed he died and where since the 40’s. Unlikely his lived and was brought back.
He was eventually found 35 feet from where they said he would be found.
As a matter of fact Dien Bien Phu is often referred to as “The Last Battle of The Waffen SS”.
All that is true, the area where Borman’s body was found was years after they had searched that same area multiple times.
Like I said, the most likely scenario is how you describe it, with a very, very small chance he made out to Argentina.
