Putin scientists unveil 'spy pigeons fitted with brain implants and cameras that can be controlled like drones'

Russia is pioneering remote controlled spy pigeons fitted with brain implants.

A state-linked Moscow neurotechnology firm boasts its operators can steer flocks of the flying pests across the sky at will.

Researchers have launched field tests of so-called 'bird-biodrones' known as PJN-1, ordinary pigeons surgically implanted with neural chips that allow technicians to direct their flight routes.

The birds can be steered remotely in real time, with operators able to upload flight commands by stimulating targeted regions of the brain.

The pigeon then 'believes it wants to fly' in the instructed direction, claim sources at Neiry, which has deep ties to the Kremlin's hi-tech innovation machine.

Surgery is carried out in which electrodes are inserted into the brain with millimetre precision.

The birds wear tiny solar-powered backpacks containing onboard electronics, GPS tracking, and the receiver that transmits signals into the neural implant.

Chillingly, Neiry insists that 'no training is required', declaring that any animal becomes 'remotely controllable after the operation' - with pigeons capable of covering 310 miles a day, or more than 1,850 miles in a week.

'Right now, the solution works on pigeons, but any bird can be used as the carrier,' said Alexander Panov, company founder.

'For transporting heavier payloads we plan to use ravens, for coastal monitoring — seagulls, and for large marine territories — albatrosses.'

While the company claims it is 'striving for a 100 per cent survival rate,' it has not revealed how many birds have died during or after the invasive procedure.

The flock-steering technology — which the company says can be used for 'monitoring and guarding sensitive facilities' — may be transferred into military or intelligence applications.

The book “MIG PILOT”, “The final escape of Lt. Belenko” tells the complete story, from Belenko’s childhood until he defected, WITH his new Mig-25 to Hakodate Japan, on Hokkaido island, and then he was brought here to the States where he was given assylem. The Mig was disassembled in Japan, examined, and then returned to Russia in a box. Needless to say, the Russkies were highly P.O.d. it’s such a great story, I keep a paperback copy and read it again about every 5 years or so.

The author is obviously not a science writer. Millimetre precision is not nearly good enough for this kind of technology. When the brain in question is less than 2 centimetres across a millimetre is huge. I would guess that the tolerances necessary are less than a micrometre.

Good catch!

The average pigeon brain has a volume of about 2 cubic centimeters, and is about the size of a shelled walnut.

A Red Blood Cell (RBC) has a diameter of about 7 micrometers. So I think that you're overestimating the necessary accuracy by one order of magnitude.

Something on the order of 10-12 microns might therefore suffice.

Well dickhead it’s hard to have a conversation with someone who doesn’t understand a post and then tries to act like he’s smarter... read slower.....

“They speak a good game but their war in Ukraine shows the crap they have technology wise. They have a lot of crap, but that’s what most of it is.”

I could give flying f—k about Ukraine or Russia because I have stated repeatedly it’s a European problem not an US problem.

Do some research on Russian military equipment and maybe you’ll learn a thing or two.

You actually answered your own question but I’ll break it down for you. The US and NATO aren’t the ones throwing the high tech at the Russians the Ukrainians are so that’s your first answer.

Giving someone high tech weapons is irrelevant if you don’t understand how to strategically implement and fight with them. The Ukrainians don’t. They win a battle here and there but don’t have the manpower and equipment to fight and endless war and US shouldn’t be supplying anything anyway. As I said it’s a European problem not America’s.

Russia has a lot of old weapons mixed with some newer technologies but they have a hard time maintaining them do to their piss poor logistics trail and manufacturing but what they do have is superior numbers of equipment and personel.

Russia also fought in Afghanistan for 9 years but gave up and went home...their tactics didn’t work then and the US funded the Afghan Mujahideen during that war with money, training, small arms and some stinger missiles. Completely different adversaries with a completely different outcome.

It’s not the weapons you have it’s know how and when to employ them with outstanding leadership. Ukraine doesn’t have that.

“The US and NATO aren’t the ones throwing the high tech at the Russians”
bullSchiff

It is entirely NATO and US tech operations.
so that’s your answer,

Do some research

The US and NATO aren’t doing any direct operations against Russia, that’s a fact. They provide a lot of the weapons but Ukraine is doing the operations. If the US and NATO are directly involved I would expect a different outcome otherwise we’re f’d again with any military leadership capability.

If you remember the original post had to do with Russian remote controlled spy pigeons fitted with brain implants. That’s what I called BS on but I’m guessing that slipped what little mind you had. Koolaid drinker that f’n original and had no context to anything said.

You’ve proven to be a completely useless inept POS so GFY.

I’ll have to get a copy. I remember some of the facts, but it was a long time ago, and I would enjoy reading the book.

Jeez. A new copy is $300.00 on Amazon! Used copies around $50.00. Going to go to our local library, they most likely have it.
