Who’s to say that the “chiefdom” didn’t order the carving of them? Or set up the quarry “workshops” in the 1st place?
No alien technology needed. The people before us were just as smart as us. They had different tools and knowledge, but they were just as smart, often, smarter.
Technology lost is maybe more than technology discovered?
Actually, people back then must have been brilliant compared to today, somehow, they managed to quarry stones that weighed multiple tons, transport the for miles and then stack them on top of each other multiple stories high and did it all without modern heavy equipment.
Exactly. I hate these eggheads that want to solve everything. They are as useless as critical analysis book and movie and art reviews of works done by people who are still alive.
It’s great to learn and explore and try to find out as much as possible about things don’t know for certain, but with ancient history it is likely that we will never know for certain, therefore stop pretending that you will know everything and stick to the facts available.

There are some good websites and videos that review things like ancient and Middle Ages physics or windmills and capstans and pulleys and rope and knot technology that will amaze you. I love digging into things like this too.
Application of physics.
Wally Washington built himself a Stonehenge from cement blocks anmbout the same size as the blue stones. He was able to move them around and place them in the same pattern by himself, using ancient techniques. Just to show that man was quite capable of building monolith without magic or alien technology.
So much more technology we mere humans still will discover & learn …..
Modern science is a wonderful thing, but the arrogance of many of the so-called experts hinders true scientific research. the Pyramids are a great example of this, after decades of research no one has come up with a solution to how they were built.

Agreed. As a young man I heard the theory that man has always been intellectually the same throughout the ages. The only thing that has really changed is the technology. Technology is where evolution truly exists.

I believe the Moai were created not by the people now identified with them, but by people long before them whose civilization existed during the last ice age when the sea level was 400 feet lower and the Easter Islands were mountain tops to a civilization destroyed in the global floods 10-12,000 years ago. The later arrivals, refugees from the floods in the Pacific area, adopted the Moai and built their own myths about them.
Amazing that anyone actually believed that any “head of state” ever did any real work, and accomplished some major task by himself. It has always been and always will be the subordinates doing the work. These scientists are deeply stupid.
There are a few interesting theories, or “combined theories” that seem plausible.
