No English proficiency in California
Facebook ^ | 25 Nov. 2025

Sorry it’s Facebook. Maybe someone else can find this somewhere else.

CA doesn’t enforce English proficiency for CDL and if they can’t speak English they perform a lower level inspection.

Wasn’t someone taking the Written test for the immigrants?

That brings up the question of how did they also pass the driving test.

The families of people killed by drivers who can’t read or speak English need to sue the hell out of Cauliphonya. They are aiding and abetting these crazy psycho truck drivers and putting them on the roads to kill Americans.

In CA, if an illegal had a permission to work card, known as an EAD card, they could get a license without a test in certain states like CA (Crazy America).

I understand this has been discontinued in the US under President Trump, but the licensees are still out there.

The test booklet says the test are in English. but it is obvious from the arrests following crashes, that the language requirement in CA is not being enforced.

Some of those probably thought they could order a burger and fries there and were totally surprised to come out with a license.

Only part of it. Crazy as it seems, while written tests may be available in other languages, and translators for those tests, the road test and the ability to understand English traffic signs are mandatory for all applicants, regardless of the language they used for the written test. But in California you can use a translator on the driving test, also.

“They are aiding and abetting these crazy psycho truck drivers and putting them on the roads to kill Americans.”

This is why they’ve recently recalled over 17K licenses trying to cover their AZZ.

The problem with long haul is that the truck being in operation is the final say in the driver’s capacity. The drivers can only operate a truck for 11 hours after 10 consecutive hours off duty. But what these foreign drivers are doing is putting three drivers in the cab and when their 11 hours is up they just switch so the truck can go around the clock 24/7. This means the cargo is received at the fastest time so those are the more preferred companies. And there is no guideline to cover the amount of working drivers for any one vehicle. So it is easy to put one in the sleeper, and two in the buckets with the passenger even sleeping.

I was at the DMV a few months ago and the CDL study guide was available in several languages.

Years ago, when I added an endorsement, I had to select English for the test.

Drivers also face a 60-70 hour limit over 7/8 days after which you must have 34 consecutive hours off in a sleeper berth, outside, home, hotel. Technically, you should not be in the passenger seat, or so I was told.

I guess after 8 days you could spend 34 hours in the sleeper while your buddies drive.

These are pretty slimy companies who employ these guys. They damage vehicles, crash, get stuck, cost them a lot of money, and as a result, probably make the company uninsurable and/or open the company up to insane liability.

I saw a video out of Laramie where the sheriff arrested an illegal who had no license, no insurance, and the company had their DOT license revoked.

He held him forvICE.

Someone in the DMV was taking bribes. Guaranteed.

No bribes. It was permissible to accept an EAD card and issue CDLs under the previous administration. President Trump ended it a few months ago.

If you search EAD and CDL it will say that you may “no longer” use the card to get a license “as of recently” indicating that it was permissible until a few months ago.

“Technically, you should not be in the passenger seat, or so I was told.”

As I understand it, a passenger is a non-productive person or even an animal like a dog. The only requirements are to the active drivers. There are a lot of companies doing their training with one driver and one trainee. My son was long haul, no more as he stays local, but he was training a moron that drove through a guys fence into his front yard then had an attitude. Son called the company had him removed from the cab at the next stop for the company to get him home and drove on. He hated training and was happier when he was alone. The computer kept him straight.

“As of fall 2023, English and 154 languages are spoken by students at Los Angeles Unified schools.”

—Los Angeles Unified School District website.

Don’t mean to imply any of the drivers could make it through a grade in public school.

I had to go through weeks of training for my CDL in California and the driving test was handled by a CHP trooper. That is insane cali just lets Pajeet walk in without a word of English and would give them permission to drive a massive death machine on the highway.
