I’m going to cite a couple examples where judgment was used.

At abu graib a dog handler was ordered to use his dog to intimidate the prisoners and he refused.

Some of lieutenant calley’s soldiers refused his orders and threats or court martial

Both of those things took great courage but were also completely supportable. When they’re encouraged to second-guess orders that they think are subject to interpretation, it endangers them and their unit (hesitation is deadly).

lieutenant calley was at the bottom of the totem pole and we all know $hit flows downhill, that is why it was all pinned on him. As far as I am concerned, everything that happened in the bush in vietnam, needed to stay in the bush.
