Threatening the Japanese is not a smart move
Considering that Japan was once upon a time an ally during WWI, could we have played our cards differently, after WWI and figured out how to work together with Imperial Japan, so that the crazies, who eventually took over in the 30s never would have gained power. They would have been of great use against the Soviet Union, and keeping Mao out of power.
