Yes. I vaguely remember them. I remember my dad hated Cronkite but he liked Huntley and Brinkley.
What is that? Always provide at least a brief synopsis of a link, and then the recipient can decide whether to click on it.
OK, tracking. Wow! I couldn’t even listen through the entire thing, because I knew what was coming. The crowd was especially creepy, the hate for decency, one could feel it. What a POS
Well, nobody in my family voted for JFK. We’re all Republicans from N Florida. But it was a shocking event and I never advocate for the assassination of a duly elected president. I was sorry he was murdered.
“And Cronkite was convinced that it just had to be a Right-Winger that did it.”
That’s because Cronkite was a flaming Leftist. He conned Americans into believing that he was as American as apple pie.
Yep. I heard it years ago 🤯🤯🤯.
You have the right attitude, and technically I agree with you.
My uncle had a church in W. Palm Beach in the ‘60s, and many in his congregation were staff for the Palm Beach upper crust, including the Kennedys and their social group.
The things that went on within that group were gross and sick. If social media existed then it would’ve been curtains for JFK — even Jackie who was not a virtuous woman by any means. But most people didn’t know then how they lived their lives, and the media covered for them.
Our school principal announced it over the intercom and our teacher grabbed her rosary and began to pray/cry. School was dismissed and I walked home with my friend. It was a beautiful day, mild for November. The TV in our house was on for a week and we saw Oswald get shot.
My family hadn’t voted for Kennedy, but still, they were horrified by the assassination and respectful of the mourning. It was an utterly different world.
Ted Cassidy (Lurch later of the Addams Family show) was early on to the scene as he was working for a local news outlet. Can’t you imagine someone 6 foot 9 inches walking around with a microphone recording what witnesses saw?
Eh, “secret service agent” detail to the president is quite a stretch to reach “police officer” or patrolman. It may be those reports surfaced before Officer Tippett was shot, that was a couple hours later wasn’t it?
You don't think the US media is capable of making sizeable stretches during chaotic events? Kennedy was shot around 12:30 p.m. Tippit was shot around 1:15 p.m. so while not simultaneous, it was within the same hour. I'd imagine reporters monitoring police radios could have very easily connected/muddled the events.
