Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over the Southern California region caused flooding and dangerous conditions on Friday.

The National Weather Service said a double-barreled low-pressure system is over the region. Rainfall rates across the southern part of Los Angeles and Orange counties are approaching an inch per hour.

A CBS LA Next Weather Alert will remain in effect through the rest of the day for widespread rain and the potential for dangerous driving conditions. The alert is meant to warn communities about a weather event that may disrupt daily routines.

An NWS flash flood warning is in effect for parts of Southern California, including the Palisades Fire burn scar area, until 7 a.m. The NWS said the Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms and heavy rain. They expect the rainfall rate to be between .15 and .25 inches in 30 minutes.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

I know I will get grief for posting this on FR, but what the hell, news about weather is considered "click bait", by some.

And nearly none of this fresh rain water will be stored but instead will all flow to the ocean.

I’m in Newport Beach at the moment and there was no heavy rain or rain at all on Friday. There was the day before.

I just mention this as an illustration of how worthless news is, especially television ‘news’.

Reminds me of the old Bob Hope-Jackie Gleason movie How to Commit Marriage(1969) in which mud flows in California are shown and mentioned.

And land slides in about 2 months after the rain peculates down into the mountains.

Are LA people able to get to all that new beach made accessible by the fires?

The wealthy had it effectively closed off for decades. They even tried putting gates and locks on the few access paths.

These severe storms caused a major drag show at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds to be abandoned after one of the four days.

I haven't seen the movie, but in 1969, we got a tremendous amount of rain that caused flooding and a lot of mudslides.
