My condolences on your loss. I lost my mother several years ago and she had stroke related dementia, though they tried to tell me she had Alzheimer's (different meds for that diagnosis don't ya know). They changed the diagnosis under intense, pointed questioning to stroke related dementia. Liver failure got her in the end.
Was it demntia or Alzheimer's? An autopsy is the only way to be 100% certain it was Alzheimer's. It's guesswork otherwise.
