I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, both with your mom’s passing but also the loss that Alzheimer’s/dementia steals from families.
Mr. mm’s mom and grandmother both had it. It was awful.
I had a cousin like that. His wife developed dementia in her 50s and resided in an assisted living facility. He visited her every single day even though he was still running a successful insurance agency. He died several yrs ago but his devotion to his wife and his Catholic faith was inspiring.
My husband had Alzheimer's and died 6 months ago but not from that. The congestive heart failure got him first which was a blessing. A horrible disease indeed.
Good on him.
My cousin was married to a woman who had Alzheimer’s. She died perhaps 15 years ago. He was not a young man, but he found another woman and they are so happy. They travel and he is being fully rewarded by God for his faithfulness.
God bless the man and give him strength and comfort!

One of the worst movies of the 80s. Mannequin 2 was even worse. :)
My wife, age 67 has Alzheimer’s. We discovered it 5 years ago. Losing a bit of her every day. I’m 69,so I’m hoping to hang in there to take care of her until the end. Moving into assisted care before the end of the year.

So deeply sorry for the loss that occurred over so many years, Lurker. I truly thought the problem of Alzheimer’s would have been solved by now. Men can go to the moon and dream of Mars, and people still have to endure such an illness. One of those things that are just not right or just.
Prayers for your comfort and strength.
So sorry about your wife. My MIL is in advanced stages. It is really horrible. I can’t imagine if it was my wife.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. But I’m afraid silver linings are probably not in the cards. I was with her Tuesday and fed her lunch. She had a brief moment of lucidity and recognized me. She said she loved me and I said I loved her, too.
Then she drifted off to sleep for the last time.
So I got that to remember.
