Damn. I forgot about the statute of limitations. But hopefully a RICO case is in Comey’s future.

You and me both hope that is the reality. πŸ˜πŸ€™

It may have been the expiration that was the issue for the screw up.

If I remember right, there was a regular prosecutor who screwed around as long as possible before he resigned at the last moment. I’m sure he as lying and tap dancing until he could drop the ball. Bondi and Halligan did the best they could at the last moment. Remember all those other deep state permanent prosecutors were doing everything possible to insert chaos.

Don’t blame Halligan ... ask where Bondi was, on this, for all of this time?

Suspect Comey is being shielded by a bunch of DOJ swampers worried about what he would reveal. Ain’t no justice for criminals at that level, at least not on this earth. Justice will be done eventually, though.

This reminds me of that movie with Katherine Turner movie, ‘Body Heat’.

Her husband died and the will, that William Hurt’s character had filed, had a mistake in it. IIRC, the will was deemed invalid and she got everything - even though the will specified that his sister and niece were to be included. Turns out, IIRC, Katherine’s character had doctored the will so it was invalid and couldn’t be contested since her husband was dead and her attorney was blamed for the error.

Trump hired lots of mainstream Republican smart experienced government hands in 2017-2020 who would not follow a MAGA agenda because of their philosophy.

He reacted to that this year by hiring a lot of true believers who cannot achieve a MAGA agenda because of their lack of experience and intelligence.

There is a happy medium that he cannot find.

If this were General Flynn or another Trump official, would the Judge dismiss this case for not presenting it to the full grand jury?

Absolutely. Because they were aggressively prosecuted immediately, not five years later, when limitations is about to run.

Possibly, if the grand jury term has not expired, the foreperson could sign an indictment for the offense the grand jury actually voted on, and it will be deemed to date back to the date of the defective indictment. If what the grand jury voted on is actually a crime. I expect that would happen if the parties were reversed.

But this is either Orly Taitz level incompetence by the Assistant U.S. Attorney, or…

I mean printing the wrong form, or grabbing the wrong form off your desk could happen. But when the foreperson of the grand jury says β€œI dunno, are you sure this is what we voted on? and you still have him sign it, without making certain that you aren’t screwing up this high profile a case.

That apparently was the biggest plot hole in the film. If the will were invalidated, the previous will would take effect, leaving things back where they started.

Did they have a quorum?

Federal Grand Jury has 23 members. Sixteen grand jurors to have a quorum, hear evidence, and vote. Twelve votes to return an indictment.

“Bondi and Halligan did the best they could at the last moment.”

Halligan, the insurance lawyer suddenly working on her FIRST criminal case, may have done the best she could. My point is that the top post in the U.S. Attorney’s office shouldn’t have been given to a total novice.

IMO, that error is on Bondi and Trump.

My mind was blown.

And don’t get me started on the ending of the movie! His gasp when he realizes what she did- AND got away with!!!!!! That was when movies were great and stayed with you, giving great conversation at dinner tables.

Now, garbage is all the movie industry puts out, not worth wasting my life on even the trailer or commercial.

Yeah, that was why people were upset that they were not doing this very early on. The meter was running, and the sands in the hourglasswere rapidly approaching the deadline. πŸ˜πŸ€™

Since we are no lawyers, it is easy to forget certain limitations. It's not something that we think about very often, buy they should have known this deadline had already been ticking for years already.
