A judge has no real power, as defined by budget or forces under his command. He has only a title, a position, and respect. If they had real power they could wear anything they pleased. Instead, they opt for black robes to make themselves appear institutional instead of just “some guy with a gavel.” Once he has been impeached every ruling he makes comes under much more scrutiny. People will make fun of him. His other judges will pressure him to go as his continued presence will damage their power on the bench. My guess is he’ll retire as his usefulness as a political operative will be compromised.
That sounds fantastic.
As in, that’s a fantasy.
