The only ones who benefit are the teachers unions. More students = more teachers and administrators = more dues to the unions.

Teachers can also be the victims of this.

A friend of mine made a midlife career change. I’ll him Joe. Joe took out some loans, then back to college to get a degree teaching math. He was hired at a Virginia middle school.

At the end of his first year, the principal called him in.
The conversation went something like this:

Principal: Joe, you’ve done a good job here. But we’re going to have to let you go.
Joe: Why???

Principal: Your student test scores are terrible.
Joe: But most of my students only speak Spanish, and I don’t speak Spanish. Plus their attendance was poor. It was very difficult to teach those students.

Principal: I know. It’s not your fault. But someone has to take the blame.

Joe quit the profession in disgust. Last I heard, he was working at U-Haul.
