I think Amelia Earhart and the mystery of her disappearance has been solved on Season 3, Episode 8 of Unsolved Mysteries.
Many Marines and citizens of Saipan have stories about Amelia. The scenario is Amelia landed on a reef at low tide at Mili Island, NW of Howland, the Japanese transported her airplane and Amelia and Newnan to Saipan by ship. Amelia was shot or died of Dysentery just before the American Liberation of Saipan.
