Egg yolks?

Posted on 11/17/2025 7:22:43 AM PST by LouAvul

Mayo Clinic says a healthy person can eat up to 7 egg yolks a week

So, an otherwise healthy person can eat an egg a day? Their article doesn't define what constitutes a "healthy person." I had a stint put in a couple of years ago. I also take a statin. Does that put me in the "unhealthy category" and should avoid eggs?

Eat eggs, use butter, in fact do everything opposite of what their modern advice is.

I forgot meat, I prefer medium rare. God put incisor teethe in your mouth to use, use them to tear the meat from the bones....the rarer the better, Iron is very important.

The problem of atherosclerosis is accelerated by the ingestion not of whole cholesterol (as found in egg yolks) but saturated fats in the diet which must be metabolized in the body and placed in lipoproteins of different densities to distribute them to “storage” areas. The cause of coronary lesions is the oxidized LDL, VLDL particles which carry the fat right into the endothelium of the arteries (coronary and otherwise) and these build up in the endothelial lining and also are weakened by the increasing levels of these particles. The weakened endothelial lesion inside say one of the critical coronary arteries, breaks the lesion away from the artery walls, and into circulation where it becomes a clot/thrombus from the autoimmune response to the freed lesion in the blood. The clot then moves to narrower passages and blocks oxygen carrying red blood cells from delivering oxygen to the tissues (like heart muscle tissues, and up in the brain, brain tissues). These tissues die from lack of oxygen thus caused, then they necrose and in the case of heart muscle, no longer function as a pumping muscle. Leading to increased heart rate, exhaustion of the remaining heart, poor circulation pressure, kidney failure etc. as well as heart failure from edema caused by non-filtered/ excreted waste and water buildup (in lungs and elsewhere).

It all starts with oxidized elevated levels of the main blood carrier molecules trying to handle the saturated fats excessively eaten by the victim person. A vicious circle as so described.

Whole cholesterol is not the major problem. Saturated fats are.

Inflammation, likely caused by too many carbs and/or seed oils.

Nichts on them. Always followed a low carb diet. No simple sugars or refined flour products. Oils consisted of organic tallow/lard, olive oil, European style butters.

Even though I still believe inflammation plays a role. Hereditary? Brother passed at 61 acute myocardial infarction. Father, triple bypass 35 yrs ago. Still going strong today at 89. Hardly any meds at all.

Thx 4 ur thought on this!

“Dietary cholesterol has very little to do with blood cholesterol”

Even if it has, the more blood cholesterol you have, the longer you live! Large cohort studies like the Swedish long-term study (AMORIS), found that higher total cholesterol was correlated with INCREASED longevity in older adults. That’s why the Scandinavians have lately changed their dietary guidelines to promote “poisons” like eggs or animal fats!

The cholesterol scare is a wholesale scam based on atrocious “science”.

The only one I know is A1C. That’s around 5. Father had triple bypass 35-yrs ago, older bro died from heart attack 4-yrs ago. Sorry, I really wish I knew so as to prevent my left artery blocking like the right did after stenting.

Correct your body produces cholesterol. I eat at least 3 eggs a day for breakfast and sometimes more for supper. Blood work just came back and mine is good.

“Always followed a low carb diet. No simple sugars or refined flour products. “

Complex sugars are still carbs. Fruits are still carbs. Whole flour products are still carbs (+ they contains nasty things like lectins, tanins, gluten). They (except fructose which is even worse for your metabolism) all end up as glucose just like simple sugars and trigger almost the same bad reactions in your body : insuline resistance, fat storage, Randle cycle activation, ketones decrease...

How can that then be called a “low carb diet”?? Do you mean the real definition of low carb according to keto-carnivore ie < 40g total carbs (fibers included) per day or something else?

I would be more afraid of the statin than the eggs.

I've noticed a 100% correlation with being born and dying.

So far anyway.

I guess I should a been more specific and broke it down more. The only complex sugers I may consume are some berries, like Adkins said we can have in moderation. I don’t eat any breads, no potatoes, no sweet veggies etc. Yes, I have been on Adkins for years, and then till now, Keto.

I tell ya, many of my friends and family were shocked when I had first heart attack. They thought I was the example of extreme health and vitality. Look approx 10 yrs younger, was running 6 miles, 5- days/week in morning, 1 to 2 hours calisthenics in the evening. On top of, staying active at work and raising poultry along side, a huge garden. No drinking or tobacco/nicotine, moderate eating (no excesses or indulgences).

That’ll break it down more. I can’t run anymore, but still stay active plus walk 4 miles 6 xs week. I just enjoy today for today, and leave tomorrow for the Lord’s will.

Thx a MILLION for your, and other’s, concern. ☺️

I’ve been taking Pravastatin for many years. I have Type II diabetes, hypothyroidism, hyperparathyroid, GERD, hypertension, all for which I take oral medication, and have for many years. I also take an anti-inflammatory as I’ve been diagnosed with an undifferentiated connective tissue disorder. I have sonograms of my heart and carotid arteries once a year. The plaquing in my carotid has remained mild for the past 10 years. My cholesterol levels are always within normal range. I don’t eat eggs seven days a week, but I have them at least 3 or 4 days with bacon, sausage and sometimes homemade hash browns fried in butter, and haven’t had any problems. I’m a 78 year old female.
