“Owning a Cat Could Double Your Risk of Schizophrenia, Research Suggests”
since schizophrenia has a strong genetic component, and usually shows up no later than the early twenties, don’t see how cats cause it ...
“Owning a Cat Could Double Your Risk of Schizophrenia, Research Suggests”
not a problem since no one really “owns” a cat ...
“Psychiatry is the same “science” that said someone who couldn’t look in a mirror and determine their gender could be cured by chopping off body parts and creating fake different body parts. “
Psychiatry is a profession, and as far as “gender” (like “trans”) issues there is not universal points of view on everything. Many reputable psychiatrists do not buy the theory that the gender dysphoria obsession cannot be corrected with appropriate metal health care, and in fact most reputable psychiatric studies acknowledge that most teens that acquire gender dysphoria will pass out of it in time; and beyond that compassionate, sympathetic but appropriate mental health care is more appropriate that physical mutilation and a life time of artificial hormones.
The professional problem is that the “professional associations” have been taken over by political activists in the professions and no longer represent an unbiased point of view.
Bkmk
Yes. And it can affect fetal health in pregnant women.
Childhoods with pets mean fewer allergies and less germ phobic adults.
The headline is backward. It should be “schizophrenia could double a person’s risk of owning a cat.
In other words, schizophrenics prefer cats as pets.
Yeh sure. 🙄
I hate cats but love dogs and pretty much any other animal.
I’m not at all surprised to learn you can catch it from your cat.
OMG my wife has 3 cats!
It’s not the cat. Its the blue hair dye that makes them crazy.
Worth it.
I think this is old info, and related to making sure the litter box is up to date. Also, it mostly pertains to early years of the humans the cat shares its house with.
Thanks for posting.
Uh oh. An attempt to blame poor cats for TDS.
Plus the study includes “schizoaffective disorders”...the schizophrenia designation came after mathematically hacking, chopping, and filtering the data from all of those low power studies you aptly pointed out.
If they are sure of their conclusion, they themselves should design a high powered prospective survey to prove it, and pay with their own funds or funds from people who volunteer the money.
