in less than two decades, Earth has tilted 31.5 inches as a result of pumping groundwater. This equates to .24 inches of sea level rise.
That means in a hundred years, the sea levels will rise a little over an inch! We're all going to die!
Oh, that’s funny - before I got this far I tried to do a rough calculation and came out at just over 1/4” rise! So, at least the figure looks about right...
Anyway, the real concern is groundwater loss in places where it is so severe that humans depending on groundwater no longer can. We (USA) have such problems in some of our western states, and the Iranians have a flat out disaster happening. From a combination of overpopulation, almost unbelievable mismanagement and bad policy, endemic corruption, and a drought, they are in ungodly trouble.
