Wan’t it Solingen that canceled Christmas?

If it is, it’s very ironic, because a lot of knife manufacturing takes place there.

It’s the German version of Olean, NY.

Wouldn't that have been ironic? But, no, it was Overath, a town in North Rhine-Westphalia 18 miles east of Cologne. It cancelled its traditional Christmas market around St. Walburga Church. Organizers from OVplus Stadtmarketing Overath e.V. cited unaffordable security costs of about €17,500 for anti-terror measures, such as barriers and personnel, which the town administration declined to subsidize. This decision, announced on November 3, 2025, has also raised concerns for other local events like the town festival.

The town regrets the cancellation and is seeking dialogue for future solutions, but no reversal has occurred yet.

While rumors of widespread cancellations circulate online, this is one of several isolated cases in smaller German towns, often due to similar security or financial issues. Major markets, like those in Dresden and Cologne, are proceeding as planned.

The town capitulates to rabid moslems they let into Germany but "regrets the cancellation."

Hitler sucking up to moslems has sure left a lasting legacy in Germany, hasn't it? Hitler and the Nazi leadership began showing strategic interest in cultivating relations with moslems (particularly in the Arab world, Balkans, and among moslem communities in the Soviet Union) as early as the mid-1930s. The effort became systematic and intense from 1937–1939 onward, accelerating dramatically after the outbreak of World War II. Then, after WW II, the Germans let in Turkish "guest workers" after their population was ruined in the war and it was off to the races.
