Absolutely true! There are distinct disorders! (The two conditions might be said to "occupy the same phase-space" in my mind, hence my unwittingly conflating them!)
Down Syndrome is a chromosomal nondisjunction disorder characterized by the presence of an extra Chromosome #21, while Autism is attributable to a complex mix of genetic variants and environmental factors, and is often linked to de novo mutations in sperm/egg DNA or post-zygotic changes.
Mutations that contribute to autism are thus usually subtle (single‑gene variants, copy number changes), not gross chromosomal defects.
Consequently, unlike spermatozoa with major chromosomal errors (which often have poor motility or viability), male gametes carrying point mutations or small structural variants are usually just as capable of fertilization as normal sperm. So there's no strong "Great Filter" against them.
Nevertheless, the risk of autism is only modestly correlated with advanced paternal age.
Regards,
I wonder: If you had instead married your current wife first, 48+ years ago (was their much of a gap between your divorce and your 2nd marriage?), would it have been as harmonious as it is now?
Regards,
There are stigmas within the conservative church, and I believe some other people groups.
Don't all Democrats have Down's Syndrome.
A lot of conditions are associated with advanced parental age. Autism is another, as is ADHD.
There ARE good women out there.
It just takes time to find them.
Took me 50 years.
Wrong!
A hockey team with poor shooters can overcome it, but a hockey team with a bad goalie will lose every time.
As a tangent, this is a law I would like to see reinstated along with at least two others that were done away with in our "progressive" (regressive) era.
The first is double-liability for bank shareholders. It used to be that bank owners were responsible, from their own money, to reimburse depositors in full, if their banks went bust. That made banks very conservative in their investment and lending.
The second is reverse-takings or inverse condemnation laws under eminent domain, whereby local government could be sued if they failed to act to protect private property. For example, government could be sued for not acting responsibly and allowing rioters to burn (or "take") one's private property. The same would apply for losses incurred by government allowing homeless encampments which hurt one's business, etc... Such laws were once very common.
Leftists and statists got rid of such laws to give government and its cronies extended power over common people.
There is never “free” sex. There are always consequences. Some good, some bad. Tanstaafl...
You are minimizing the importance of individual Free Will, balanced by societal restraints!
If I place a loaded revolver into the hands of a responsible person with high moral standards, nothing evil will come of it.
In contrast, if I place a loaded revolver into the hands of a person with barely-controlled base drives and irrational wants (and who is not immersed in and restrained by an environment of severe social stigmatization and disapproval, limiting the wanton release of those base drives), that's a recipe for disaster.
The same applies to "The Pill." Except that, in the case of "The Pill," feminism has gone further and actually amplified the pernicious effect by "egging on" women to unleash their selfish desires.
Men have always been "horn-dogs." We know that and have always known that. That's why ancient society devised a vast legal and social system for the purpose of restraining their sexual proclivities; and those sanctions are still largely in place! (In fact, in many situations, modern men have to be even more careful of how they act, for fear of being expelled, sent to HR, or put behind bars.) And even after the advent of "The Pill," no widespread societal movement suddenly began encouraging men to "pump and dump," etc. That lifestyle was lauded, at most, in a raunchy corner of the printed media ("Playboy" etc.) - and only high-SMV males (the top 10%) were ever able to actually live it!
But "You go, girl!" and "You can have it all!" resounded throughout Christendom! It became an inviolable tenet of the Modern Age!
Men are magnitudes less culpable for the currently dismal situation than women. The societal and, yes: legal sanctions for male "misbehavior" are even more draconian.
Regards,
Yes, there are!
DW #2 and I were 63 when we married, 21years ago!
AI will dwarf the tulip bubble.
The AI companies have spent over $700 billion on infrastructure in the last two years, but only have had some $40 billion in revenue.
There are not enough cat videos or goldfish swimming around on Only Fins to pay for this.
Get rid of no fault divorce ...
It also helped to be embedded in a rigid social and familial structure that watched your every move, and harshly sanctioned any misstep.
Regards,
After ten years together, he ended the relationship without fulfilling his promises of marriage and children.
She should have figured it out by the 3rd year,
yeah that’s true. From the beginning of human history to about the 1980’s, all mom’s were “teen moms.” Now it’s a dirty word like it’s something to be ashamed of because you’re putting off your career. When you are young, that’s when you should have kids. Not when you’re in your 60’s.
I second that motion!
Top Kek.
Women used to protect each otger by slut shaming.
Now women compete with one znother in debauchery.
Thanks...
Marriage has been gutted and All have been affected.
It’s a sad Deal because everyone Wanted the “Ozzie and Harriet” Dream Life.
Few find it.
Blessings to Those that Did.
