I bought my first running shoes for high school track, in 1971, from Nike Store #2 in Eugene, Or. The salespeople were U of Oregon track athletes.

I haven’t bought any Nike shoes in 15 years. IMHO New Balance sells better shoes for walking, at lower prices. Today New Balance shoes, as far as I know, are made in USA.

You can often find Nike at Good Will and Thrift Stores I dumped all my Nike gear years ago.
