The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald · Gordon Lightfoot
My husband and I were Great Lake Boaters for years, our home port was Marblehead near Sandusky Bay. Made several trips up into Huron and will never forget some of our stops…..Kincardine, Tobermory, Killarney and Baie Fine in the far North Chanel which was mesmerizing. So grateful for those trips. You are lucky to have lived in such a beautiful area.
Ah! Now I understand. I couldn’t figure out why people were talking about the “Rectum of Ella Fitzgerald”. My hearing ain’t what it used to be.
My favorite:
“Life would be ecstasy, you and me, and Leslie....Groovin’.....”
This thread is intended for respectful thoughts and memories of the ship and its crew lost tragically. Forgive me if I do not share the same sense of humour.
Per Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_Lightfoot
“The Mariners’ Church in Detroit (the “Maritime Sailors’ Cathedral” mentioned in “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”) honoured Lightfoot the day after his death by ringing its bell a total of 30 times, 29 for each of the crewmen lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald and the final time for Lightfoot himself.”
Lake Superior is no joke, the largest and deepest and coldest great lake, lots of ship wrecks on the bottom
Thank you!
My best friend's father died on that day also......
RIP
I agree, way to cold in North Chicago.
