From the age of 21, I have worked to end human rights abuses, violence, and war, and restore the environment.
I am a peace scholar and practitioner, with extensive knowledge of nonviolent social movements, the political
economy of war spending, gender & peacebuilding. I have edited or written 27 publications, led eight non-
profits, and taught at six universities. I was recognized for my leadership and “moral courage” by four
foundations and academic societies. I am featured in Amy Goodman’s book Exceptions to the Rulers, and in the
Progressive magazine for opposing the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq as a U.S. government official. My
interviews include The Washington Post, NBC Nightly News, Australian Broadcasting, Nuclear Times, and
broadcasts in India, Uganda, Zambia, Palestine-Israel, and Australia (find links under Media Appearances).
