I remember when Desegregation hit the South. Almost every White kid in some cities were suddenly enrolled in private schools.
The Berlin Wall went up to prevent invasions by the West. Problem was the machine gun nests were facing inward.

My parents pulled me out of public schools because they were going to bus me to the other side of town in the worst neighborhoods of Memphis.
