Your daughter installed ad blocker!
Use the Brave browser.
I haven’t seen a YouTube ad in years.
I get no ads whatsoever, and I spend a lot of time on Youtube.
Thanks to Adblock Plus, and others.
uBlock Origin baby! And get rid of Chrome like now! Switch to Firefox. You’re welcome...
My daughter’s computer has Google Chrome - no ads . I am using Microsoft Edge . That must be the problem .
She has to have an ad blocker Chrome extension.
Maybe because she has the premium account, and you’re too cheap to buy it?
On my YouTube music premium, I get no adds here in Japan. Wonder if she paid the premium package to eliminate adds, but you did say she didn’t watch YouTube much.
Three weeks hospital. My limited Japanese (spelling)...Odaijani....
YouTube has ads?
So many people use ad blockers. The few people who do not do so must get all the ads.
Same here Ublock Origin
Unrelated to ads, I also run Youtube Enhancer which does as the title suggests. Adds features and allows for tweaks.
I also run YesScript which does the opposite of NoScript. Allows javascript by default but can partially or completely block it on any given website. I rarely use it except when I run across a website that is littered with ads and popups.
Ublock Origin also takes care of ads on X. Now I need to figure out some way to block them on the X app for Android.
I’m running LibreWolf browser on my PC. It’s firefox tweaked for privacy.
Google Chrome has add-ins you can download for the browser to block YouTube adds.
Does your daughter have a YouTube Premium account? There’s no ads when you’re Premium.
Sorry, Chrome calls them “extensions,” not “add-ins.”
I used brave browser and I don’t get ads on YouTube.
“Maybe because she has the premium account”
Yeah that’s what I use. $18 a month and no ads. It’s good if you watch a lot of YouTube.
The hospital IT people may have installed some sort of blocker @ the modem or between the modem and router. My wife plays music when she is working after hours at the parochial school she teaches at. No ads. There is also blocking of anything the school feels may be inappropriate for the kids to see.
Are apps like ad blocker available on televisions? Particularly LG? I never realized those type of apps worked.
“she has the premium account”
My 1st thought
“Does your daughter have a YouTube Premium account? There’s no ads when you’re Premium.”
Except for the embedded ads which seem to be becoming more frequent.
