Did they know where the house was of someone who told them where she was? Someone intimate with her everyday plans, for sure.

You need to identify yourself now when you buy airline tickets. The airlines' databases are tied to DHS.
The post 9/11 "reforms" by the Shrub were directed at creating an efficient intelligence network within the US, not at keeping illegal immigrants and terrorists out.
